DeepSeek Harness task-completion reminder plugin

dsh-task-notify adds a notification layer on top of an AI coding agent's task lifecycle: the moment an agent turn completes, fails, settles a background job, or starts waiting for a human (approval / plan review / question), you get an in-page toast, an OS-level desktop notification, and an optional sound. It fires on turn completion (thinking or tool use finishes), background job settle (completed/failed/killed), review needed (approval/plan review/question), and failure (turn error or job failure/kill), with three channels (OS browser notification, in-page toast, optional two-tone beep) and per-event config so every trigger and channel can be toggled independently. It closes the feedback loop for long-running autonomous tasks: UI-only status indicators fail exactly when you are not looking, so lifecycle transitions become interruptible OS-level signals.

Install

dsh plugin --profile web add @ltao0829/dsh-task-notify

npm package @ltao0829/dsh-task-notify 0.1.0 (registry-verified 2026-08-24). Install: dsh plugin --profile web add @ltao0829/dsh-task-notify (or from git: dsh plugin --profile web add git+https://github.com/ltao0829/dsh-task-notify.git). Prerequisites: Node.js and pnpm. Restart dsh web and refresh the page; on the first click/keypress the browser asks for notification permission — allow it to receive desktop notifications. BSD-3-Clause.

Compatibility

DeepSeek Harness (currently the supported host; lifecycle-detection core is host-agnostic and designed to grow into adapters for other coding agents). Inspired by Codex's desktop-notification UX — not a Codex integration and not affiliated with or sponsored by OpenAI. Settings card lives in the plugin section of DSH's settings UI; values stored locally in localStorage (dsh.taskNotify.v1).

Recent updates

The current English README documents: why it exists (long-running agent tasks invert the attention model), features (turn completion, background job, review needed, failure events; three channels; per-event config), install (npm or git), configuration settings card with localStorage persistence, and the host-agnostic design intent.

FAQ
