A DSH Cordis plugin that gives your DSH Web workspace a customizable background — atmosphere presets or your own image, persisted across restarts. Solves the three hard problems of background customization: silent save rejection (allowlist via expose-namespace.mjs), update overwrites (first-class setting item via the official Cordis plugin mechanism), and flat single-color workspaces. Turn off the Enabled switch or click Restore default to remove it completely.
Install
node scripts/install.mjsOne-command install (README-documented 2026-08-25, English edition): git clone https://github.com/leavestring/awesome-dsh-background-plugin.git, cd into it, then node scripts/install.mjs — it builds, installs into the web profile by default, and runs the scripts/expose-namespace.mjs allowlist step automatically (DSH's host only lets allowlisted settings namespaces be read/written by the browser). Then restart DSH Web. Release v0.1.9; Node.js >= 18.

- Why do I need the namespace allowlist step?
- DSH's host only lets allowlisted settings namespaces be read and written by the browser — otherwise saving rolls back. The plugin ships scripts/expose-namespace.mjs to add ui-background to the allowlist with one command; the one-command install runs it automatically.
- Will my background survive DSH updates?
- Yes — unlike direct CSS edits or userscripts, the plugin uses DSH's official Cordis plugin mechanism, so updates do not overwrite your background.
- How do I remove it?
- Turn off the Enabled switch or click Restore default in the background setting — it is removed completely.
