DSH's VPS Hub: local SSH ledger (Orca style ssh-config/manual + tombstone), 8 vps_* tools for AI discovery/test/execution/transfer, keys only path reference; ProxyJump/ProxyCommand, Windows key authentication, i18n settings page UI; npm package dsh-vps-hub (v0.1.8)
VPS Hub for DSH keeps a local ledger of your cloud-server SSH targets and lets agents discover, test, execute on and transfer files to them. Eight agent tools (vps_list, vps_import_ssh_config, vps_add, vps_remove, vps_test, vps_exec, vps_upload, vps_download) cover discovery through file transfer, and an optional Settings → "VPS Hub" page provides server cards, test-connect, an add form prefilled from ~/.ssh/config (Include-expanded, wildcard aware) and removal. Storage is a single JSON ledger with Orca-style semantics: targets tagged source: ssh-config | manual, removal tombstones and deleted-alias suppression; every server can carry ProxyJump and ProxyCommand.
Install
cd ~/.dsh/profiles/web && npm install dsh-vps-hubREADME Option A step 1: install the npm package into your DSH profile directory (shown verbatim; pnpm add dsh-vps-hub is the documented alternative). Step 2 mounts it in the profile's cordis.patch.yml with a vps-hub insert row (name: 'dsh-vps-hub', optional dataFile / maxOutputBytes / connectTimeoutSec config). Edit the patch file, never the root cordis.yml. Step 3 restarts (or HMR-reloads) the profile. npm package dsh-vps-hub 0.1.8 (registry-verified 2026-09-10; registry repository field -> github.com/Sdongmaker/vpshub). Upgrade with npm update dsh-vps-hub; uninstall with npm uninstall dsh-vps-hub plus removing the patch row.
Compatibility
macOS / Linux with system ssh/scp; Windows works for key-based auth (OpenSSH client) but password auth is POSIX-only because the SSH_ASKPASS bridge is a shell script. Requires DSH 0.1.0-rc.x with the web profile and a writable profile directory. The packaged plugin uses execFile (no shell interpolation).

Recent updates
README documents the credential model: the ledger stores only identityFile path references, pasted key content is written to a private file under ~/.dsh/keys (mode 0600) and referenced by path, and passwords stay in process memory, handed to ssh through the SSH_ASKPASS protocol — never in argv, never on disk, gone on restart.
FAQ
- How do I install dsh-vps-hub?
- Run cd ~/.dsh/profiles/web && npm install dsh-vps-hub, add a vps-hub insert row (name: 'dsh-vps-hub') to the profile's cordis.patch.yml, then restart or HMR-reload the profile. A dynamic-plugin variant adds the Settings page without installing the package.
- Where are SSH keys stored?
- The ledger keeps only identityFile path references; pasted key content goes to a private file under ~/.dsh/keys with mode 0600 and is referenced by path — never stored in the ledger.
- Are passwords written to disk?
- No — passwords live in process memory for the plugin's lifetime and are handed to ssh via the SSH_ASKPASS protocol through the child environment, so they never appear in argv or a file and are gone after a restart.
