Side Chat branching client plugin for DeepSeek Harness

A formal Web client plugin that adds a Side Chat to DSH. It occupies the single conversation.chat.branch-action seat rendered after the finalized assistant action strip: the conversation owner supplies a guarded fork(): Promise<SessionId> callback for the assistant tail, so transcript-prefix eligibility and child-title policy stay in ui-conversation, while this plugin owns the branch button, the pending/error presentation, and the handoff to Layo... (branch session). The README also documents the model-experience notes, including the KV cache effect and known limitations and deferred work.

Compatibility

DeepSeek Harness source checkout — the patch is verified against one specific upstream commit, and it touches the addressed-Session, right-column, conversation slot, Web composition, tests and generated-catalog files. The installer applies the patch without staging or committing harness files. The /client public entry exports only the Cordis plugin body (apply and inject).

README records the seat ownership split explicitly — eligibility and titling stay in ui-conversation while this plugin owns the branch button and its states — and lists the known limitations and deferred work.

FAQ

How do I install the Side Chat plugin?
There is no plain plugin-add line: clone deepseek-harness, check out commit 47f943859bef60e4160492346772ded9b24f765a, add this repo as a submodule at packages/client/ui-side-chat, run the bundled integration/install.sh, then pnpm install and bundle the package.
Will it work with a newer harness revision?
The patch is verified against one pinned commit. For a newer revision the README suggests trying git apply --3way with the bundled patch first, since it touches addressed-Session, right-column, slot, composition, tests and generated-catalog files.
Does the installer commit changes to the harness?
No — the installer applies the patch without staging or committing harness files.
