A focused terminal workspace for the official DeepSeek Harness engine, without cloning the Harness monorepo. It provides durable sessions (create, resume, switch, transcript pagination), multi-turn follow-up, steering, cancellation and model selection, tool calls, approvals, structured questions, todos and command discovery, alternate-screen lifecycle with real PTY behavior and Unicode/ASCII fallbacks, and eight built-in themes plus persisted custom themes (Classic, Sakura Byte, Ocean, Ember, Aurora Pulse, Luna Circuit, Phosphor Grid, Sunset Circuit — switch with Ctrl+T or /themes).

Install

npx --yes deepseek-harness-tui@latest

README run command (no profile install; the npm package selects a prebuilt runtime for macOS, Linux or Windows, so users need no Harness source tree, submodule, pnpm or native compiler). Documented flags include --cwd ./project, --model deepseek-official/deepseek-v4-flash, --resume <session-id> and --theme luna. Configure providers with the same environment variables and settings as DeepSeek Harness (for the official API: export DEEPSEEK_API_KEY="your-key"). NOTE: the public npm package deepseek-harness-tui 0.3.0 is registry-verified, but its registry repository field points to github.com/Demo-0416/deepseek-harness-tui rather than this repo — verify the publisher before installing.

Compatibility

Node ^22.19 || >=24 per the README badge. Prebuilt runtime packages exist for macOS arm64/x64, Linux arm64/x64 and Windows x64. It does not fork or copy the DeepSeek Harness source tree: the TUI lives at the repository root and the official engine is pinned as a Git submodule only for reproducible builds.

Recent updates

README documents the release model that keeps an installed version stable: releases pin an exact tested Harness commit, Dependabot proposes upstream commit updates and CI builds the TUI against each proposed revision, so an upstream change cannot silently break an installed version.
