EvilIrving/dsh-context-proxy
Thin on-demand context retrieval: context_query / context_slice / context_grep tools that read already-persisted history back with replay-safe citations.
dsh-context-proxy is a thin on-demand context-retrieval layer that adds the one piece automatic truncation, spill-to-disk, compaction and token metering do not own: three model-facing tools that read already-persisted history back on demand. context_query returns lightweight {seq, type, text} matches by seq/type/surface/text via sessionQuery.filterEvents; context_slice reads one event plus a bounded before/after window; context_grep matches with {text, citation} using the packaged ripgrep or sessionQuery. Citations are replay-safe: query/slice cite session:<seq> (rebuildable from the canonical log) and grep cites a spill path (path:line) or session:<seq>. Config covers readWindowDefault, grepMaxBytes (1 MiB default) and rgGraceMs.
Install
dsh plugin --profile web add github:EvilIrving/dsh-context-proxyREADME EN verified 2026-09-02 (repo EvilIrving/dsh-context-proxy). Install per README: dsh plugin --profile <name> add github:EvilIrving/dsh-context-proxy (or add ./dsh-context-proxy from a checkout). The bundle patch inserts one plugin row; sessionQuery and subprocess are optional ctx.get backends — without a sessionQuery backend each tool degrades to an isError result instead of waiting forever. The packaged ripgrep binary comes from @vscode/ripgrep (same mechanism as dsh-tool-fs-search), so no system rg install and no shell layer.
Compatibility
DSH profile with sessionQuery/subprocess seams optional; tools is a hard dependency; replay-safe session:<seq> citations.

FAQ
- What do the three tools return?
- context_query returns lightweight seq/type/text matches, context_slice one event plus a bounded window, and context_grep matches with text + citation (spill path or session:<seq>).
- Are citations replay-safe?
- Yes — session:<seq> citations rebuild from the canonical log, and grep cites path:line spill locations when a path is supplied.
- What if the session query backend is missing?
- sessionQuery and subprocess are optional: tools degrade to an isError result instead of hanging forever.
