Minimal desktop wrapper for DeepSeek Harness Minimal desktop wrapper for DeepSeek Harness, cross-platform, no configuration required, ready to use out of the box

A minimal, local-first, cross-platform desktop shell for DeepSeek Harness — the same harness in a native app rather than a browser tab. It bundles pnpm so catalog plugins can be installed, updated or removed without a separate Node.js toolchain, and ships a Plugin Market (Settings → Plugin Market) that browses and searches the community catalog, inspects plugin sources and installs, updates, disables or removes them, with market-triggered process restart disabled because the desktop host owns the application lifecycle. The README also covers SSH and remote operations plus a validation-status section.

Install

Download DeepSeek-Harness-Desktop-latest-<arch>.<ext> from github.com/agent-earth/deepseek-harness-desktop/releases

README download table (per-OS packages): macOS Apple Silicon DMG and Intel DMG, Windows x64 setup installer or portable ZIP, Linux x64 AppImage and Debian/Ubuntu deb — all from the releases page the README points at (agent-earth/deepseek-harness-desktop; this repo is the same project's mirror/alias). macOS builds are integrity-signed but not Apple-notarized, so the first launch needs System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway; on Windows the unsigned installer triggers SmartScreen, where you click More info → Run anyway. On Linux run chmod +x DeepSeek-Harness-Desktop-.AppImage and launch, or sudo apt install ./DeepSeek-Harness-Desktop-.deb.

Compatibility

macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel), Windows x64 and Linux x64. Harness binds only to 127.0.0.1 on a random port; Node.js integration is disabled in the renderer; contextIsolation and the Chromium sandbox are enabled; new windows and cross-origin navigation open in the system browser; Harness runs in a separate Electron Node child process, and --expose-internals (needed by Cordis HMR) is granted only to that child. Plugin Market mutation endpoints require same-origin requests and install sources are restricted to the curated catalog.

README documents the security model and known limitations explicitly, including that third-party plugins still execute with the current user's permissions after installation.

FAQ

How do I install DeepSeek Harness Desktop?
Download the package for your OS from the project's GitHub releases page (macOS DMG, Windows installer or ZIP, Linux AppImage or deb) and follow the README's per-OS steps; macOS needs Open Anyway on first launch and Windows needs SmartScreen Run anyway.
Do I need Node.js or pnpm installed?
No — the desktop package bundles a compatible pnpm runtime so catalog plugins can be installed, updated and removed without a separate Node.js toolchain.
Where do I browse plugins in the desktop app?
Settings → Plugin Market: it browses and searches the community catalog, shows plugin sources, and installs, updates, disables or removes plugins.
