OpenTritium/dsh-codex-shim

Simulates a Codex environment for selected model routes to improve GPT-family model tool-call success.

A shim that simulates Codex-style prompts, tool vocabulary, tool results, and WebUI presentation for selected model routes, helping GPT-family and other Codex-adapted models use tools more reliably inside DSH. It consumes existing DSH capabilities only (shell, sandbox, approval, fs, attachments, todo events, web search) and never starts a Codex app-server, handles OAuth, or executes commands on its own. Registered tools: exec_command, apply_patch (Codex patch markers, fuzzy hunk matching), view_image, update_plan, web_run (search-only), write_stdin (polling adapter). The gate masks overlapping host tools per route and restores them when the route changes or the bundle is removed. Routes are configured via modelPatterns / modelOverrides in settings.yaml.

Install

pnpm dsh plugin --profile web add ./opentritium-dsh-codex-shim-*.tgz

Release-tarball install per README (English): gh release download --repo OpenTritium/dsh-codex-shim --pattern 'opentritium-dsh-codex-shim-.tgz' (or curl+jq from the GitHub latest-release API), then pnpm dsh plugin --profile web add ./opentritium-dsh-codex-shim-.tgz and pnpm dsh --profile web --dump-config. Tarball installation is pinned to DSH commit 47f943859bef (0.1.0-rc.5). An optional WebUI settings-card patch (deepseek-harness-settings-client-exposure-47f9438.patch) is only needed for the visual config card; settings.yaml works without it.

Compatibility

DeepSeek Harness 0.1.0-rc.5 (pinned commit 47f9438). Node ^22.19.0 or >=24. React 18 WebUI. Windows not yet tested. Codex reference: @openai/codex codex-cli 0.147.0 — the shim is a surface adapter, not a Codex runtime.

Recent updates

Codex-style tool surface (exec_command, apply_patch, view_image, update_plan, web_run, write_stdin); scope-aware host-tool masking; gpt-5.6-* automatic rule; settings.yaml or WebUI card config; zero host patches by default.

FAQ

Is this a Codex runtime?
No — it is a shim that adapts existing DSH capabilities into a Codex-style surface. It does not start a Codex app-server, handle OAuth, or provide models/credentials.
Which models does it apply to?
By default gpt-5.6-; you can replace modelPatterns (e.g. deepseek-v4-) or add exact provider/model overrides in settings.yaml.
How do I uninstall it?
pnpm dsh plugin --profile web remove @opentritium/dsh-codex-shim restores the plain upstream profile composition; optionally delete the codex-shim: section from settings.yaml.
