ilimei/dsh-desktop
Native macOS client for @deepseek-ai/dsh with ZenMux plugins, auto-update, custom window chrome, and proxy set
A lightweight native macOS client for @deepseek-ai/dsh that keeps the full DeepSeek Harness Web Client and adds the desktop capabilities an app needs: it launches the local dsh web with Swift/AppKit/WKWebView and renders the raw interface directly, adding a native macOS rounded-corner window with shadow, full screen and a standard menu bar, traffic-light buttons drawn by a built-in Client plugin (staying aligned with the icon rail when the sidebar collapses), drag-the-top-area window movement and double-click zoom, a built-in network proxy in Settings supporting HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS5 and a direct-connection list, and a configurable DeepSeek Base URL and API Key with the key stored in the macOS Keychain. Proxy settings apply to model requests, plugins and DSH updates alike, and the app checks for new DSH versions in the background.
Install
Download the DSH Desktop archive from github.com/ilimei/dsh-desktop/releasesREADME installation: requires macOS 13 or newer, an Apple Silicon or Intel Mac (download the matching release asset) and Node.js installed with nvm, fnm, Homebrew or another standard installation. Download the archive from Releases, extract it and move DSH Desktop.app into your Applications folder. Source build: git clone https://github.com/ilimei/dsh-desktop.git, cd dsh-desktop, ./build.sh — needs the Xcode Command Line Tools, Node.js and npm, and the first build installs the DSH and ZenMux dependencies (output at dist/DSH Desktop.app); ./build-x86_64.sh cross-builds the Intel version on Apple Silicon with Rosetta installed.
Compatibility
macOS 13 or newer, Apple Silicon or Intel, with Node.js installed via a standard manager. README notes it is not Electron and does not reimplement the DSH UI: it bundles @deepseek-ai/dsh and @zenmux/dsh-plugins and launches the bundled runtime directly on startup (reaching the page in about half a second in practice).

README details the LLM Gateway section (override DEEPSEEK_BASE_URL, configure DEEPSEEK_API_KEY; DSH appends /chat/completions automatically), keychain storage of the API key with no logging, and the proxy behaviour for the child process (HTTP_PROXY, HTTPS_PROXY, ALL_PROXY, NO_PROXY; loopback addresses always stay direct-connected).
FAQ
- How do I install DSH Desktop (ilimei)?
- Download the archive from Releases, extract it and move DSH Desktop.app into Applications. Requires macOS 13+, an Apple Silicon or Intel Mac, and Node.js installed via a standard manager. A ./build.sh source build is also documented.
- Is it Electron?
- No — the README says it uses Swift, AppKit and WKWebView to render the raw DSH interface directly, and that it does not reimplement the DSH UI.
- Can I route DSH traffic through a proxy?
- Yes — Settings → Network Proxy supports HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS5 and a direct-connection list; saving restarts DSH and sets the child process's proxy environment. Loopback addresses always stay direct-connected.
