ICCuse/dsh-file-memory

File-backed working memory: memorize/recall key premises verbatim in a session notes file so they survive context compaction losslessly.

dsh-file-memory is file-backed working memory for long tasks: two model-facing tools — memorize (appends verbatim deduplicated lines to <workspace>/.dsh-notes/<session>.md) and recall (reads the notes back, optionally filtered by query, capped at maxRecallChars) — keep key premises as verbatim bytes in a session-scoped notes file inside the workspace, so they survive context compaction losslessly: a summarizer can blur or drop a fact, but a file round-trips it byte-exact. It is positioned as the pragmatic complement to prompt-space compaction, usable today on the shipped compaction-basic backend. Config: maxRecallChars (default 6000, integer >= 1) and notesDir (default .dsh-notes, bare directory name).

Install

npm install github:ICCuse/dsh-file-memory

README EN verified 2026-09-02 (repo ICCuse/dsh-file-memory, package name @deepseek-ai/dsh-file-memory). NOT on npm yet — install from the repository: npm install github:ICCuse/dsh-file-memory (or pnpm add github:ICCuse/dsh-file-memory), then mount the declared dsh.bundle by adding a row to the profile cordis.patch.yml: - id: dsh-file-memory / name: dsh-file-memory. Note: the bare npm name dsh-file-memory (1.3.2) is already owned by aqsk-BLG's unrelated package (enriched as aqsk-blg-dsh-memory) — the README's 'once published, dsh plugin add dsh-file-memory' form is not used here until a distinct name is published.

Compatibility

DSH profile with a mounted fs service and agent-backed sessions; works with the shipped compaction-basic backend; notes file resolved against the session workspace cwd.

Recent updates

memorize/recall tools; verbatim .dsh-notes/<session>.md notes file; lossless across compaction; query filter; maxRecallChars cap.

FAQ

Does memory survive compaction?
Yes — notes are stored as verbatim bytes in a workspace file and read back byte-exact, unlike LLM-rewritten prompt-space state.
Where is the notes file?
At <workspace>/.dsh-notes/<session>.md (notesDir configurable, must be a bare directory name), resolved against the session's workspace cwd.
Why not install from npm?
The package is not published yet and the bare npm name dsh-file-memory is already taken by another author's package — the README documents npm install github:ICCuse/dsh-file-memory plus a manual bundle row until a distinct name is published.
