Unofficial open-source Windows Electron wrapper for DeepSeek Harness

DeepSeek Harness Desktop is an open-source, unofficial Windows Electron wrapper for DeepSeek Harness: it launches the official @deepseek-ai/dsh local web server and displays the unmodified official UI in an isolated WebContentsView. The wrapper only handles process lifecycle, native window integration, navigation policy (non-local navigation opens in the OS browser), and a custom title bar. It is explicitly not an official DeepSeek product, provides no model credits, and does not bypass API authentication.

Install

Download DeepSeek-Harness-Desktop-Setup-0.1.0-x64.exe (or Portable) from GitHub Releases

GitHub Releases ships an NSIS installer, a portable single-file executable, a source snapshot zip, and SHA256SUMS.txt. The installer uses the standard per-user application directory to avoid Windows path-length limits; use the portable build for a custom location. Builds are not commercially code-signed, so Windows may show an unknown-publisher warning. From source on Windows 10/11 x64: git clone, npm ci, npm run setup, npm run start (Node.js 24, npm, PowerShell 5+).

Compatibility

Windows 10/11 x64. Starts the official @deepseek-ai/dsh local web service and loads its unmodified UI in a sandboxed Electron WebContentsView; wrapper owns process lifecycle, window, navigation policy, and a custom title bar. Harness listens on a random 127.0.0.1 port; sandbox:true, contextIsolation:true, nodeIntegration:false.

Recent updates

The current README documents pinned versions (dsh 0.1.0-rc.6 / Electron 43.4.0 / Node 24.19.0), SHA-256-verified runtime downloads, the security model (random localhost port, sandboxed view, narrow IPC bridge), and app data locations under %APPDATA%.

FAQ

Is this an official DeepSeek product?
No — the README says it is unofficial, provides no model credits, and does not bypass API authentication; DeepSeek Harness is still a Developer Preview.
Which files should I download?
The full NSIS installer (Setup), the portable single-file exe for custom locations, or the source zip; SHA256SUMS.txt is provided for verification.
Why does Windows warn about the publisher?
Builds are not commercially code-signed, so Windows may display an unknown-publisher warning.
